Plaster ready for painting Plasterwork

Smooth walls and ceilings you can paint straight away. Paint-ready plastering from €16 per m², including preparation and materials.
Paint-ready plastering (in Dutch: sausklaar stucwerk) is a smooth layer of plaster on walls or ceilings that you can paint as soon as it has dried, without filling or sanding first. We apply it in existing homes and new builds within roughly 80 km of Amsterdam, and further away for larger projects. Prices start at €16 per m², including preparation and materials.
Dutch plasterers work with three finishing levels. Wallpaper-ready is flat enough for wallpaper, but small irregularities stay visible. Paint-ready goes a step further: the wall is smooth enough for latex or emulsion paint to look even, also when daylight falls across it at an angle. Above that sits a finish with extra filling rounds, which is mainly needed for high-gloss paint. For a living room, bedroom or hallway, paint-ready is almost always what people mean when they ask for smooth walls.
Most requests we get are about a renovation. The old wallpaper is off, there are holes from pipes and sockets, and the walls need to become one smooth surface again. We then replaster the whole wall, so you no longer see patches and transitions.
We also do ceilings. A concrete ceiling with joints or an old textured ceiling becomes one smooth surface. In new builds, buyers often choose paint-ready plastering over the bare finish, because a gypsum block wall or concrete ceiling never looks right with just a coat of paint. If the surface is already flat, thin plastering is often enough and costs less.
Please empty the room as much as possible before we start. Large furniture that stays is moved to the middle and covered.
Paint-ready plastering costs from €16 per m² of wall or ceiling surface, not per m² of floor. A room of 4 by 5 metres with a 2.60 metre ceiling has about 47 m² of wall and 20 m² of ceiling. From €16 per m², that is around €750 for the walls and €320 for the ceiling, with windows and doors still included in the measurement.
The price goes up when the surface is in poor condition (many old layers, loose plaster, deep cracks) or when there are many corners and window reveals. A large, empty new-build home is cheaper per m² than a single wall. Outside our immediate area we charge travel costs, which you will see in the quote.
A room is usually plastered in one to two days. We normally finish a whole home within three to five working days, depending on the surface area and the condition of the walls. After that, the plaster needs time to dry before it can be painted.
We work within roughly 80 km of Amsterdam, including Haarlem, Zaandam, Alkmaar, Almere, Hilversum, Utrecht, Leiden, The Hague and Rotterdam. For larger projects, such as a whole house or a new-build project, we also travel further.
